We've just returned from "The Polar Express" with Evy. It was only her second movie ever. It was complete magic. Without giving away any plot, it's about this doubting little boy's journey on a train to visit Santa at the North Pole, and his internal struggle with the believability of Santa Claus.
Evy watched mezmorized. She was entranced with the screen, the sound, the magic...not to mention the seats, candy, lemonade and big rotating magic wand in the theater's lobby. After a few calls to "Turn it down, please!" she soon snuggled into my lap and was taken in to the magic a movie can create. Durring part of the film, the boy is taunted, "He's a doubter, he's a doubter!" Evy called out, "He's NOT a doubter!!" then in a whisper she asked why he was doubting. I responded that he wasn't sure there was a Santa. "There is a Santa, there is." she was quick to reassure everyone.
When Santa's face finally illuminated the screen, she was a toddler transfixed. she sat up strait and slowly raised her hand in a wave to Santa. Every time he apeared she would raise her hand toward the screen or rest it on her cheek.
As the movie was ending, she did ask when Dora (read: Dora the Explorer....we're on a first name basis with her in our home) would be on. But after that, it was all Polar Express talk. Daddy became the conductor, our car became the engine of The Polar Express, and when I dared to call him "Santa" Evy repramanded me with a "He's Santa CLAUS, mommy." I guess she told me!

There's nothing like watching the magic of a movie through the eyes of your child.
